S O C A — rules

welcome to soca, an invite-only sol gpsl set in a fictional suburb of southern california. characters are encouraged, but not required, to be based out of two neighboring condominium towers here. we aim to have a long term relaxed environment that interacts mostly on the fp instead of customs, as well as a place where it's acceptable to step away for a few days and activities are not dead on the fp after only a day. if this does not sound appealing to you please consider looking into other options that better suit your needs.

we are not a continuation of any comm but we will not police characters or storylines brought in. more than anything, we want to provide a safe place to write that will encourage creativity and a sense of community. keep in mind the rp basics: keep drama ic, don't harass others, and be respectful with how you deal with controversial subjects. remember that being active and welcoming new members is essential for the health of any community of writers. this group is going to be small, so we rely on you to keep soca thriving!

will not be limited per member but we ask that you take responsibility for the members you recruit. if you know your friends require bigger comm settings with a constant flow of drama or swipes, or if they frequent anons, please do not invite them. if someone has been banned from a comm in the past, please do not invite them and as mods we reserve the right to reject any applicants. since this is a closed gpsl do not advertise or ask for lines in pbads or psls.

activity
at soca, we want to balance having a laid-back environment with an active and engaging community where everyone feels connected! our fp will be primarily member-driven. with this in mind, our monthly activity requirements are simple: update with something interactive! you're more than welcome to post more frequently but we kindly request that at least one of your monthly activities be interactive. high effort or low effort we don't care just show us that you want to be here! there are no strict commenting rules but we appreciate your efforts to be as present as possible on the fp. this is just a hobby and we all have lives outside our screens but we want to see you participating.

hiatuses are granted for up to 3 weeks and we will not limit the amount of hiatuses needed because life happens.

conduct
do not blur the ic/ooc line. from a moderator standpoint we cannot do anything about ic drama but we ask that any ooc drama be handled, and with civility. this server is now too small to be acting out and we expect you to treat everyone with respect regardless of your feelings ooc. if you're incapable of this please reconsider if soca is the right place for you. that said, harassment and bullying of any kind will not be tolerated and all members are strongly encouraged to document and report any instances to the mods for immediate attention. we do not care if you use apps because no matter what we say you're going to use them anyway! lastly, we ask that you rp without checking anonymous journals. ignorance is bliss. if you cannot enjoy this hobby without shitting on others and contributing to the cesspool of hate that circulates anons at our age, then we do not want you here.
